Recipes with Raviv: Episode 9 - Labneh, Pistachio & Truffle Honey Crostini
Brought to you by The Crown Market – Your One-Stop Shop for Kosher Cooking in West Hartford
Welcome back to Recipes with Raviv, where tradition meets taste, and every week we bring a beloved dish to life in your kitchen. This week, Debbie has put together a perfect bite sized morsel just in time for Shavuot as well as any Mother’s Day festivities!
Only four steps and five ingredients, these crostini are simple and easy to put together, but refined and sophisticated enough to elevate any occasion. The labneh on toast creates a rich, protein packed foundation, and the pistachio paired with the truffle honey gives a sweet and salty balance, making every bite a dance of flavor.
Crown Market Shopping List:

All ingredients are certified kosher and available now at The Crown Market.
Why Labneh? Typically you would see this recipe done with ricotta cheese or cream cheese. We’re giving it a Mediterranean twist with labneh, which is a thick and creamy strained yogurt. Labneh also has significantly less lactose, so while it is still technically a dairy food, folks with lactose intolerance or sensitivity can usually enjoy it. Personally we enjoy Tnuva’s Mediterranean Labaneh, Low Fat, available in store and online via Instacart!
If you want to make this parve, we suggest using coconut or soy yogurt. And if you want it fully vegan, we would swap the truffle honey with truffle oil and agave!
Ingredients:
Sourdough bread
½ cup Labneh
2 T truffle honey
2 T crushed pistachios
olive oil
lemon zest (optional)
finishing salt (optional)
Truffle honey has a wonderful balance of sweet and savory. You can purchase it premade, or make it at home by infusing honey with Tuscanini Black Truffle Extra Virgin Olive Oil. You’ll want to let it sit for a few weeks to properly infuse, so if you want to make this for Mother’s Day or Shavuot, you should probably start now.
Preparation Method
Slice the sourdough bread and brush both sides lightly with olive oil. Toast to a light golden brown.
Spread the labneh over the toast while it is warm.
Drizzle honey over the top, then sprinkle pistachios over the top.
Optional- add some lemon zest for bright flavor, sprinkle with finishing salt.
Pairing Ideas
Serve with a fresh crudité platter or as part of a charcuterie board
Crisp, light refreshments such as seltzer water or sparkling wine
Balance with a fun citrus to brighten the palate.
